Overview

Reason Blocker ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps you stay focused by blocking distracting websites with timed unblock and reason tracking. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the Extension handles and how.

Data Stored Locally

The Extension stores the following information locally on your device using the Chrome storage API. No data ever leaves your browser.

Data Purpose
Blocked website domains To maintain your list of websites you want to block
Unblock duration preferences To remember your preferred unblock timer settings
Unblock history To track when you unblocked a site, the reason provided, and timestamp
Active unblock timers To manage timed unblock sessions and auto re-blocking

Data NOT Collected

The Extension does not collect any of the following:

Personal information
Browsing history
Analytics or metrics
IP or geolocation
Cookies or trackers
Page content data

Permissions

The Extension requires the following browser permissions to function:

Permission Why It's Needed
storage Save your blocked sites, preferences, and unblock history locally
tabs Detect when you navigate to a blocked site for redirection
webNavigation Intercept navigation to blocked websites and redirect to the blocked page
notifications Notify you when your unblock timer is about to expire
alarms Schedule automatic re-blocking after an unblock timer expires
host_permissions Required to detect and block any website you add to your blocklist

Third-Party Services

Reason Blocker does not use any third-party services, APIs, servers, or analytics tools. The Extension operates entirely offline and makes zero network requests.

Data Sharing

Reason Blocker does not sell, transfer, or share any user data with third parties for any purpose, including advertising, marketing, analytics, or research.

Data Retention & Deletion

All data is stored locally in your browser. You can delete your data at any time:

  1. Remove individual sites โ€” Use the delete button next to each site in the Extension popup.
  2. Clear Extension data โ€” Go to chrome://extensions/, find Reason Blocker, click "Details", then "Clear data".
  3. Uninstall the Extension โ€” Removing the Extension automatically deletes all associated local data.

Children's Privacy

Reason Blocker does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the Extension does not collect any personal data from any user, it is compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
